I always wanted to go on a mission trip but coaching basketball and softball always made it difficult to be able to go. When Rachel Lett asked me to go I thought If God opens the door for me to be able to go I will take my first mission trip to foreign soil at age 55. And not to my surprise the Lord worked it out and I was able to go. My experience in Honduras and working with the Hope through Him Ministry opened my eyes to giving a new meaning to what it means to actually take up my cross and follow Him. Before going on this Mission trip I had my views of what missionaries do on foreign soil. They go everywhere and spread the gospel. They tell people about Jesus and they get to see lots of people come to know the Lord as their Savior. What I found out is that they do so much more. They build relationships, with them, they feed them, they truly become the hands and feet of Jesus. I realized that before coming on this trip I was probably a sideline Christian. I attend Church faithfully and I share Jesus with my sphere of influence. However, I was immediately blessed with the Lendermans, Claire and their entire staff and how they poured God’s love into these people at June 22, to serving the kids at the Dream Center, and feeding 100 people at Camp LaMesa. Working with kids and families at Camp Llano. After seeing Cristy and Brad and Shelby and the HTH staff and how their ministry is not just about sharing Jesus, it’s about building relationships and caring and giving and going where they are and showing them the love of Christ as well as telling them. Brad asked some questions that changed my heart. He said, “Who will you serve? How will you serve? and When will you serve?” Life changing trip! Love Hope Through Him!
