In the past 3 years of college, the Lord has blessed me with the opportunity to go on a mission trip to Honduras with Hope Through Him Ministries 5 different times. The first time I went, I had no idea what to expect or the big impact it was going to have on my life. The staff of Hope Through Him is like one big family. They are eager to teach and show trip members what they believe and how they are seeing God work in the communities they are involved in. The ministry is completely relationship based, which means that when you leave the mission house each day, the goal is to just talk and get to know different people in the communities. That can look like playing soccer with a group of kids for the whole day or it can involve sitting outside a family’s home just getting to know them. The idea is that relationship leads to trust, and trust eventually leads to real conversations about Jesus and the hope we find in him. On my first trip to Honduras I met a little 5 year old boy that I instantly connected with and we played together the whole day. Within a few months of being home, the Hope Through Him staff reached out to me and told me that that little boy needed a sponsor. The decision to support him in his schooling and continue building a relationship through sponsorship was an easy one. Going to Honduras and getting to meet the kids and families that live there has been a huge blessing. It has shaped how I pray, how I view missions and how I love the people around me. I can’t wait for the next time I get to go on a trip with Hope Through Him Ministries!
